The Entrance Hall

These are pictures of how it was furnished when The Hornbeams was owned by the previous owners.

The Dining Room, or Red Room - again, how it was under the previous owners.

We don't have the same dining suites but do have the armchairs and dresser. The decor is the same.

Notice the wine lockers set into the sides of the chimney breast?

The Lounge. We originally refered to this as 'The Ballroom' because of its size.

As it became filled with furniture, it  then came to be known as The Blue Room (for obvious reasons)

but we are in the process of re-decorating and fitting new curtains.

The main colour scheme will be shades of pale brown (not magnolia!) so we will have to come up with a new name for the room.

Views of the rear of the house.

In the first picture you can see the greenhouse on the right and the vegetable garden and soft fruits are in front of it

just outside the picture.

Immediately to the right of where the first picture was taken and just in the foreground of the second picture

is the fruit tree garden (apples [three varieties], pears, plums & damsons, cherries).

Sadly, what the pigeons didn't damage, the very high winds we experienced in May blew off most of the blossom

so there is very little fruit left apart from the apples.

Despite the best efforts of the woodpigeons, we have, and are still, enjoying fresh fruit and vegetables straight from the garden.

It's been a bumper year for the raspberries and the red- black- and whitecurrants are starting to ripen, as are the gooseberries.

The fig tree is also producing fruit, though how edible they will be remains to be seen. No sign of fruit on the olive trees though!

This panoramic picture shows the garden taken from the conservatory at the west end of the house and looking south

(notice the air raid shelter!).

The picture above was taken in January and the garden looks very different now (June) as you can see below.

Bruce (the chocolate Labrador) had to be in the picture, of course, though he is uncharacteristically shy!

I think he must have found something more interesting in the chimenea.
